With a background as a physiotherapist Mela has always had an appreciation of the human form. When sculpting, she draws on family and friends as models and she takes a multitude of photos from all angles for accuracy of the lines of a pose.
Mela now works almost entirely in bronze, finding the initial process of sculpting in clay enables her to get definition & subtlety. She has a great admiration for the medium of bronze because of its intrinsic beauty and timelessness.
Creating Joyful Moments
Endeavouring to capture the character of the individual, in the end it is the essence of the person that is most important for Mela to translate into the work.
Mela’s bronze sculptures are in various private and public collections in Europe, Asia, U.S.A and Australia.
